Our cats are our lifelong companions and with time, health conditions may arise that may affect their quality of life. Here at Sunrise Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer you the option of humane euthanasia. Our staff are dedicated to providing you with the care and compassion needed during this difficult time.

When should I consider pet euthanasia?

You know your cat best. When you notice your cat’s quality of life has suffered to the point that he/she no longer enjoys doing the things that make them happy, we recommend calling us to have a conversation about of end of life care.

What is the process for cat euthanasia?

Once you have made the decision, we recommend you make an appointment. When you arrive, the staff will be waiting with a private room for you. We will ask you about your options for keepsakes and care of the body. The staff will then document your wishes and have you sign the consent form. Once the paperwork is completed, we will have the staff take your cat to treatment and give a sedative. We will return your cat to you, so they may fall asleep with you. When your cat is sedated, we will take your cat to our treatment area and insert a catheter. Your cat will then be returned to you and the veterinarian will come in to perform the procedure.

Do you do house calls?

We do not do house calls. There is a local service who will provide at home end of life care.
