From improved health to eliminating unwanted pregnancies, this procedure offers numerous advantages.
Having your cat spayed or neutered has many benefits for your pet and for the pet population. Spaying and neutering help to control the number of pets without a home that end up in shelters. There are also health and behavioural benefits too.
Spaying is the surgical removal of the female reproductive organs (uterus and ovaries) and neutering is the surgical removal of the testicles.
We spay and neuter cats at six months of age.
When a cat comes in to be spayed or neutered, we do pre-anesthetic blood work. This test helps in determining any unseen kidney/liver issues, before putting them under general anesthetic. Once an anesthetic is administered, an assistant will monitor your cat’s heart and respiration rate, while the veterinarian surgically removes the reproductive organs. Once the procedure is complete, the patient will continue to monitor as they wake up from the anesthetic. Please call us with any further questions you may have, or to book your cat for spay or neuter.
